As a strength coach, instructor and graduate research fellow, I tend to be pretty busy. Between coaching, teaching and researching, finding time to train can be difficult. One of the best improvements I've made to my own training was to stop caring about it so much. I always needed the right amount of rest between two squat sessions and would take an extra day off if I had to. I made sure to include every major muscle group in my hypertrophy work. I would only train after eating the right amount of food when I felt most ready to perform. If I did cardio, naturally all of my gains would go down the toilet.
Lately I've realized, my training will never be perfect. The best thing I can do to improve the qualities I care about: Strength - Power - Athleticism - Physique, is to just...train.
Go to a crossfit or spin class, do MYO-reps and BFR. Lately almost every set of my first major movement EMOM for 10 sets, simply because it takes such little time. If you have the time and energy to make your training as high quality as possible, don't let me stop you. If you're like me and 2.5 hours in the gym isn't feasible any more, let the idea that your training has to be perfect go, and just get in the gym and train.
